The Role of Emotional Intelligence and Styles of Leadership in Predicting the Mental Health of the Staff

Abstract


The purpose of this study was to investigate the role of emotional intelligence and leadership style of managers with mental health of staff. This descriptive study was correlational. The statistical population consisted of all employees and managers of Iran Petrochemical Development Management Company. The sample of this study was 100 people. Of these, 25 managers were selected by random sampling method and all of them were selected by random sampling method. For data collection, Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire, Multifactor Leadership Style and Mental Health were used. The results of Pearson correlation coefficient showed that the relationship between mental health and emotional intelligence (p <0.01) and transformational leadership style (p <0.01) were positive and significant and with non-intervention leadership style (p≤0.01). Is negative and significant. The results of multivariate regression showed that 52% of the variance of mental health is predictable through emotional intelligence and transformational leadership style. Promoting mental health is an effective and constructive community of society, which is essential for the dynamism, prosperity and prosperity of the community. The results showed that emotional intelligence and transformational leadership style in managers were effective on mental health of employees. Hence, planning to promote it is one of the issues that officials and policy-makers need to consider.
