Reducing Aggression in Female Students: Cognitive-Behavioral Group Therapy

Abstract


The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of cognitive-behavioral therapy on reducing aggression in female adolescents. The sample group of this study was 30 students in Isfahan who were selected through cluster random sampling and were divided into experimental and control groups. At first, both groups were tested by the AGQ General Aggression Scale, then the experimental group underwent 12 sessions of cognitive-behavioral intervention training, and then the two groups were retested by the post-test research tool, and then the results were obtained by multivariate analysis of covariance. The results showed that cognitive-behavioral group therapy caused a change in variable scores in female students and post-test scores showed that the mean of aggression scores in the experimental group decreased. Also, the effect of cognitive-behavioral group therapy on the variables of verbal aggression is 43.4%, physical aggression is 53.7% and aggression is 64.4%. Finally, it was found that cognitive-behavioral therapy has reduced aggression in female students.
